it is incredible how you can be so close to someone, talk to them constantly, spend time with them, then in a couple weeks it is all just a distant memory and it’s as if none of it even happened in the first place

I find fleeting moments of friendship like that kind of terrifying because while they are happening, you don’t assume it will be ephemeral or that you will drift, and then when it happens, you remember everything in the past and you wonder how you could’ve invested so much into something that was so short-lived
